The Pain of Personal Growth

Thursday, July 21st, 2011

The great thing about writing a blog is that I can give all the unsolicited advice that I want, and if you don’t want it, you don’t have to read it. Today I want to talk about the pain that comes with personal growth. If you’re like more than half the people around, you already live with some kind of chronic physical pain. You’ve gotten used to it, you deal with it and hopefully, you’re doing some research on holistic prevention and methods to decrease the pain. There’s a difference between physical pain and pain that comes from a personal development journey. With physical pain, your body is trying to tell you that something is wrong that needs fixing. Emotional pain can be taken as a sign that things are actually on track.

The above only applies if you have already become aware that you are, indeed, on a personal journey. Many people are still in the dark, living their lives like there’s no purpose. Going to work, going home, feeling disappointed with life, but doing absolutely nothing to change things for the better. If you’re still reading, you probably already know that you want things to be different, and you might even know that it’s entirely possible for you to find the peace and happiness that already lives inside your soul. I’m going to share a little something about what kind of emotional pain you could face while you’re on the journey.

Not many people in the personal development industry talk about this. The emotional downs that come with growth are extraordinary. We all want you to believe that you can just snap your fingers and have everything you ever wanted. It DOES work like that, but evidence of all the changes don’t happen in that instant. Go ahead and snap your fingers now. Let’s get that part out of the way.

Now that you’ve snapped your fingers, asked for what you want and repeated all the positive affirmations you can think of, now the joyride begins. It’s up to you to pay attention to how the universe is moving in your favor. Things can begin to shift right away, and not all of those things will be wrapped in a bright, pretty little package. This is where the emotional pain comes in. You are stepping outside of your comfort zone. All the things that you’ve encountered up until now, those things that have created your personal history, you’ve gotten used to them. Just like any chronic pain you might experience, you know how to deal with your life as it is. Even if things are bad, you’ve created your coping mechanisms and you could really handle it for its duration. But you don’t want to… you know there’s something better out there for you.

But when you want change, you’ll have to work for it. I don’t mean work in the sense of physical labor. In fact, once you’ve snapped your fingers and put your wants out into the universe, you’ve pretty much marked it down in stone. The work I’m talking about is adjusting to all the lovely changes that need to take place in order for you to get from point A to freedom, love, happiness and peace; all those things that your soul is really craving.

Doors will begin to shut right behind you and others will magically appear. Keep your eyes open or you’ll miss those magical new doors. The part of this that seems unfortunate is that when you see an open door, it looks all scary and dark from where you’re standing. But remember, the door you came out of is closed now so the only option you really have is to walk through it. As long as you are paying attention, what’s going on will be crystal clear to you. You might lose your job. You might lose your home. Your best friend might decide to leave town. It will be up to you to deal with the grief and then figure out what this loss is making room for. You have lost something in order to gain something greater. I promise.

So, if you’ve asked for change and now your entire world seems to have turned upside down, this is such good news! I’ve experienced this first-hand myself. I can give you a personal guarantee that the growing pains you’ll feel while your life is in its transformation period will be greatly rewarded. If the universe hits you with a whammy, feel blessed that the cosmos recognizes that you are strong enough to handle it. Hang in there, pay attention, keep your thoughts positive and the other side of adventure will reveal the reasons that you might feel like you’re hitting brick walls.

Peace Necklace, Add Some Peace to Your Wardrobe

Friday, February 11th, 2011

Wearing a peace necklace can bring about feelings of calm, serenity and peace during your day. For hundreds of years, other cultures have relied upon talismans and certain types of jewelry to assist them along in their spiritual journeys. By wearing a peace necklace, you can assist the feelings you desire by giving them focus and a way into your life.

A peace necklace or talisman can help to bring about what you lack in your life.

A peace necklace or talisman can help to bring about what you lack in your life.

The benefits of wearing a peace necklace, or any kind of stone, gem or symbol that provides a path to inner peace can be astounding. Not only do some pieces of jewelry help to attract abundance, joy, wealth, health and peace, but symbolizing these things in your outer body can also help you to focus on what it is that you desire, and help you to manifest it as well.

Many people prefer gemstones that already hold certain properties for luck, health, abundance and joy. Others choose jewelry or stones in certain colors that help with balancing chakras. You might also find that wearing a necklace depicting a mandala or an image that speaks to you will help bring peace to your life.

I have used the wonderful tools that Zazzle provides to create peace necklaces with many different designs. These are sterling silver necklaces that are available with circle or square shaped pendants. Scroll through the designs or click through to see them all. Find the one that speaks to you and you’ll know it’s the perfect peace necklace for you. Enjoy!

The 10 Secrets of Failure by Jim Francis

Wednesday, December 8th, 2010

What does it take to be a winner?

Most successful people do not know how they achieved their success.

Success for them just arrived and was a very pleasant and satisfying experience.

If you stand and talk to a successful person for any length of time you will notice that their attitude and belief system is somewhat different to that which you are used to.

They seem to have a different angle or slant on things which you usually find quite refreshing.

If you could get close enough to these successful people to analyze their belief system you will find that they do none of the following…

The 10 secrets of failure ?

1 -  Remain positive all day long ….for no reason. This is emotionally unnatural!

2 -  Discuss your life’s objectives with negative family and friends.

3 -  Accept gratuitous advice from unsuccessful people.

4 -  Follow-the-herd …because that is what everyone else is doing.

5 -  Watch TV “soap” regularly …this is guaranteed to destroy all creativity.

6 -  Heavily mortgage into debt and absolutely guarantee high stress for years to come.

7 -  Remain in a business/personal situation where you are perpetually unhappy and stressed.

8 -  Tell yourself continually that you are naturally unlucky.

9 -  Become petty-minded and envious when someone you know has a major windfall.

10- Make lifestyle decisions based on spur-of-the-moment emotional feelings.

It is not what winners do that makes them so successful; it is what they don’t do!

They totally avoid the above 10 secrets of failure, either consciously or subconsciously.

Truth and Resentments, The Secrets Game

Sunday, December 5th, 2010

Lately, I’ve been hearing a lot about telling the truth, being authentic and releasing resentments. There have been so many clues that I thought I might share this scenario, in case there are others who may benefit.

Resentments can get stored in your body and create many health problems. Resentments also are the result of not opening up and being truthful about your feelings, over which you have complete control.

This means, it’s up to you.

Please listen to my video and then leave a comment sharing your story or your secrets. I’d love to have your participation on this, and I encourage everyone to refrain from responding to others.

This is a sharing session, for our own personal development. If you want advice, please ask for it. Otherwise, we’ll all just try to listen and be supportive. :)

Peace and enjoy!

Why Vision Boards Work

Why Vision Boards Work

Vision Boards are personal development tools that have recently been revived and brought to the attention of the public through magazines, internet articles and high profile TV shows. Many of you may be interested in making a vision board, but feel wary about actually doing it because you don’t fully understand why vision boards work. So how do they work?

Vision Boards work because they are based on the “law of attraction” which has assisted many people in accomplishing some some very great things. The law of attraction is based upon the combined outcome of three specific principles; Ask, Believe and then Receive. By asking the Universe or Higher Power, (depending on what you believe), and then believing that it is true and real, you will then receive what you have asked for. By focusing your mind with positive thoughts about a goal you may have or a dream that you want for yourself, then imaging yourself doing those things via images, you will then accomplish them as you are lead in the right direction to your goal or dream. This all works because you are able to access your subconscious mind which holds the key to your intuition and belief that you can have what you want.

Have you ever heard the phrase “money attracts money”? Well, this is the same for other things; positive attracts positive and negative attracts negative. Within ourselves, we all have issues, memories or problems that have enabled us to carry negative emotions around for years. Feelings of unrest, poor personal image and a feeling of not being good enough or deserving good things are the most common. Because of these negative thoughts we often, without realizing it, are sabotaging our chances at happiness, wealth and good fortune. How many times have you said to yourself “Now why did I just do that?” It is because of these negative thoughts kept in your subconscious mind. By opening up your mind and changing these thoughts into positive ones, great changes can be made and success can be found. Vision Boards are perfect for this task, as they are very basic, but very powerful in their effect on our lives and in our minds. Anyone can make one and everyone can benefit from one.

Vision Boards use images, sounds, smells and positive words to focus our minds and change these negative thoughts into positive ones. Accepting that this is a task that will not happen overnight is important, as real change takes time. Do not be disappointed after a short time if nothing happens, as this will only feed back into the negative that you have been trying so hard to eradicate from your mind. Keeping faith and belief will carry you through, making sure that your positive thoughts attract the positive things you are trying to achieve. Vision Boards work!! Millions of people can back that up and have found the inner self confidence to reach for more. You can do it, too. You deserve it.

The Power Of Having A Vision Board

Wednesday, October 27th, 2010

The Power Of Having A Vision Board

Vision boards are not a new concept, although you may only just be beginning to hear them mentioned by some. The ancestry of vision boards can be traced back into the ages from the new-age terminology of positive affirmations. This tool is a prominent part of the visualization technique, right back into the dark ages when people took things from the Earth and drew pictures that represented what they wanted for themselves. This long history may have changed and shifted from religion to religion, and then encompassed into the more recent New Age theories, but the aim and design behind them has never changed.

A vision board is based on the law of attraction, which is something that various modern-day self help book authors have included into their writings. This proves the power behind them is something of a fact. The principle is based on visualizing what you want your life to become by sending out positive thoughts into the Universe. Positive thoughts attract positive rewards, whereas negative thinking only attracts more negativity and sadness into your life. Have you ever noticed that when things are going well in your life you find yourself becoming more “lucky”, finding out good news, getting that promotion at work, or even finding money left on the street? When you feel good and are positive with your life, you find that further good things happen. When things aren’t going so well, and we feel negative inside, we seem to attract even more sadness and “bad luck”. We may lose out on things that are important, miss an opportunity, etc. Thinking bad thoughts, feeling low, and even depression seems to bring more of the same, which, in turn, makes thing worse – a vicious cycle. So how do we change it all? How to we get off the roller coaster for good?

Answer: By making a vision board.

We are not powerless to be stuck in a rut, although it may feel like that sometimes. We can make a conscious change by changing the way we think. By changing the way we think, we are able to access the power that each of us has to change our lives and the lives of others. A vision board is a tool that is used in this process. Everyone, no matter who you are, can benefit from creating a vision board. You begin by selecting images and text that you feel empowered by and that reflects what you want to bring to your life. Put all of these things together on a poster board or other similar surface, and place it in a prominent part of your home. Place it on a wall or a location that can be seen by you frequently. You may even decide to put it on your computer. No matter where your vision board is displayed, it allows you to see the overall combined image that you want for your life – a powerful positive image. The human mind is very powerful in its own right. Many people do not understand this and therefore do not exercise or access this power. By using a vision board you are able to access this powerful side of yourself that may have been unintentionally working against you in your negative thoughts.

5 Tips to Improve Meditation Results

Saturday, September 25th, 2010

You keep hearing that meditation is extremely important to well-being, stress relief and reaching your highest goals and dreams, right? Years ago, the concept of meditation was considered by many to be some kooky, new-age nonsense that was practiced by people very different from ourselves. No longer is this the case. The HUGE benefits of meditation are being discovered, discussed, practiced and realized by many, many people, including people just like you.

But it can sometimes be difficult to get the hang of meditation.

When you first decide to hop onto this meditation bandwagon and see what the fuss is all about, you’re probably going to wonder if you’ll ever understand exactly what meditation ‘feels’ like. As you sit and attempt to become ‘quiet’ your thoughts get louder than they’ve ever been before and you begin to realize just how powerful your mind might be. And how on earth will you ever get control of it?

Here are 5 tips to improve your experience with meditation and get better and more effective results. Discover the power that meditation can bring into your life.

1. Practice, practice, practice…

Everyone says it. This analogy has been used a million times. It’s like riding a bike. In order to master the art of meditation and discover the extremely powerful benefits that this practice can bring to your life, mind, body and spirit, you absolutely have to practice. Not many of us got on a bike and just rode off into the sunset. Meditation is the same way. The first couple of time, 5 times, 20 times that you sit and attempt to quiet your mind, you’ll probably want to give up. But just know that if you keep at it, there will be a lightbulb at some point. Make the commitment.

2. Make the Commitment

Speaking of commitment, you’ll want to try and harness all the self-control you can muster and make meditation a daily part of your life. This is much easier said than done, because we can think of a hundred things to do that we already think are working for us, like cleaning, running after the kids, working, eating, sleeping and watching the tube. If you’ve only read about the benefits that meditation can have, but have never experienced it yourself, you may be more apt to shrug it off. If you make the commitment to work 20 minutes to a half hour of practice into your daily schedule, only then will you reap the rewards.

3. Remove Distractions

In order to effectively meditate, especially for a beginner, you’ll want to create an environment that’s distraction free. Shut off the radio, television and cell phone, wait for the kids to take a nap and find a spot that is quiet, peaceful and serene. If you don’t know of a spot like that, find one or create one. Go sit outside, lie on a park bench, sit in the bathroom or hide under your bed. The best thing to do is to create a ’space’ in your favorite room. Light candles, incense, play soft, rhythmic music or open a window to feel a cool breeze. Get around things that make you feel at ease and make that your place to attempt meditation.

4. Count Your Breaths

When you are first beginning meditation, counting your breaths is said to be the best way to get into your ‘zone.’ I usually start at 10 and work my way backwards. Try to take deep breaths that you can feel in your abdomen. Count these and try to focus only on the number and your breathing. Whenever I begin to meditate, I still find other thoughts getting in and taking me away from my counting. When this happens, I start back and 10 and try to refocus. After a while, you’ll find that you are able to connect to a deeper place within your mind as you count. That’s the beginning of the fun!

5. Look for Images, Listen for Sounds and Enjoy the Peace

Meditation results in many different experiences for many different people. No one outcome is something that should be expected. You’ll find that your own experience with meditation may be quite unique. As you learn to quiet your mind and look beyond your surface thoughts, you may notice images, sounds and memories come to the surface. Meditating is a bit like dreaming. If you can stay with these waking dreams, you may find answers to current problems, healing opportunities and pleasant memories of old friends appearing for your enjoyment. No matter how your personal meditation experience plays out, you should feel less stress, the discovery of inspiration and a calm and present peace of mind when you are finally able to get into the zone.

Another Theory on the End of the World 2012

Monday, July 19th, 2010

A good friend of mine found this video about the Mayan calendar and 2012. This is yet another look at what’s possibly to come, based upon the opinion of someone who has studied the appropriate materials, rather than someone who is relying on Hollywood and the news to instill a belief system.  I share this video to demonstrate that there are people who have been reading, studying and attempting to understand things which do not appear on our nightly news. I hope this will spark an interest for you to continue with a bit of research. I don’t know if anyone has a definitive answer on what’s going to happen between now and 2012, but you can see that the world is changing. You can either continue with your head in the sand, denying possibilities other than that which you think you know to be true, or you can delve into the world of information and come up with your own opinions and beliefs. Astral Projection for Beginners

Friday, April 30th, 2010
Disclaimer: I am writing this article, ‘Astral Projection for Beginners’ from a purely objective standpoint. I have not personally engaged in the activity, nor do I recommend or discourage anyone from trying it for themselves. It is my aim to provide you with an overview of astral projection from a beginner’s standpoint, based upon research provided by others. (Source: Wikipedia)
Astral Projection for Beginners

Astral Projection for Beginners

What is Astral Projection?
Any interpretation of an out of body experience, where the mind or ‘astral body’ seems to leave the physical body to travel about inside of the astral plane or field of consciousness, is defined as astral projection. For beginners, this may either seem like an unfamiliar or frightening scenario, or may be something that is happening to you regularly, without conscious effort. Astral projection is often associated with near death experiences, and has been reported to occur during dreams, surgery, meditation or while under the influence of certain types of drugs. Any time your senses seem to separate from your body and travel through time and space to other places, dimensions or fields of thought, this can be considered astral projection.

Astral Projection Techniques

There are many techniques available for astral projection for beginners. You can read about these and try them for yourself, or you may wish to research further by comparing successful techniques or engaging in forums especially designed for beginners to astral projection and out of body experiences. Depending upon how you learn, you may also be interested in an audio course that provides information regarding all aspects of astral projection, both for beginners and those who are more advanced. You may discover that you can achieve certain types of physical or mental healing, meet with loved ones who have passed, or access the Akashic Records by becoming familiar with astral projection and how it can benefit you. No matter what technique you use to achieve astral projection, keep the following pointers in mind:

  • Relax – you must reach a complete state of relaxation and meditation for astral projection to occur. Any fears, thoughts or questions could interfere with the process.
  • Avoid astral travel at night – for beginners, attempting astral projection at bedtime will likely result in your falling asleep, but you may achieve lucid dreaming…which can be another fun experience!
  • Be patient – learning the art of astral projection is a commitment that may take some time. You must be patient and continue using your favorite techniques with consistency.
  • Extinguish your fears – fear will prevent astral projection almost every time. If you have any fears associated with an out of body experience, but you’re still interested in the topic, further research may benefit.

Dangers of Astral Projection

If you’re a beginner to astral projection, your first question probably centers around the potential dangers of astral travel and if there is a possibility for harm. The answer to this question seems to be based mostly on your level of fear. Must like walking through a dark alley at night, if you give off the impression that you are afraid, you are more likely to be bitten by a dog or attacked by a criminal. Same goes for the law of attraction; what you present to the universe comes back to you in experience. There are dangers to astral projection, but they are apparently rare, occur on the lower levels of consciousness and involve fear. If you are informed of the possibilities and are educated on the easy techniques to prevent harm from coming to your body, your being and your soul, higher consciousness wins every time. Astral projection is about confidence and protection, and that’s all there is to it.

Learn more about astral projection for beginners by discovering secrets and valuable information in this 18-part audio course entitled Astral Projection Underground.

If you have questions, feel free to ask and I’ll do my best to direct you to the answers you are seeking. There are many accounts of astral projection online, and I’d be more than happy to research answers for you.
